You can also go to this specific page on the new sever by editing the current link in your browser by removing the umms near the beginning of the link. Once you go to the new page, be sure to update any bookmarks you have.

Mail - Account Setup (Exchange)

Setting up an Exchange account in the Mail application is fairly straightforward, but should only be used if the mail account is actually hosted on an Exchange server. The following procedure outlines how to set up an account to the Exchange email servers used in the UM Medical complex environment.

  1. Open the Mail application by clicking its icon in the Dock or double-clicking the application icon in the Applications folder.
  2. From the Mail menu to the right of the Apple icon, choose Preferences.
  3. Click the Accounts button to display the pane.
  4. To create a new account, click the plus sign + button in the bottom-left corner of the window. The Add Account window will appear.
  5. Use the following table to determine how to complete the setup for a particular account. Italicized text should be replaced with the appropriate user information.

  6. Click the Continue button. Mail should automatically detect that the account is housed on an Exchange server and automatically auto-complete the configuration.
  7. Check or uncheck the appropriate checkboxes to synchronize the Exchange Address Book with the local Address Book application and Exchange calendar notifications with the local iCal application. Click the Create button.
  8. On the left side of the Accounts window, in the Accounts list, select the new account.
  9. By default, the Description should be the email address used when setting up the account. If using Mail with multiple accounts, it may be preferable to change the Description to UMHS Exchange or something similar.
  10. Close the Accounts window, saving any changes, if prompted.
