Citrix software is used for desktop virtualization and software-as-a-service (SaaS). Citrix client software was originally provided by the ITS Help Desk and was required to access all non-Web applications that ITS supports, which include ImageNow and M-Pathways, among others.
As of March 2012, VDI has replaced Citrix for connecting to virtual desktops
Users of VaaS, DAC EIS, ImageNow, and Wolverine Access: If you previously used Citrix to connect and have logged in since January 2011, you should automatically have access to connect with VMware View Client. If you are unable to log in or need assistance with your UMROOT (Windows Active Directory) password, contact the ITS Service Center (764-HELP).
Citrix XenApp Service is a thin-client technology, also known as server-based computing, used to distribute applications via a client or web interface. In the current environment, the Citrix XenApp is used to access eThority (UMS) applications and may be referred to as UMS, eThority, or just Citrix.
